Olivia Parker Personal Backround
Olivia Parker is a photographer born on June 10, 1941 and is still alive today. She is american, and lives in Boston Masseuses. She has always loved photography, and went to Westerly Collage with a degree in art history. She got famous because of her breathtaking still life's, and was in many famous museums such as the Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Modern Art in New York, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and many others.
Olivia Parker Style
Olivia is a very excellent photographer, who mainly focuses on still life images. She likes to incorporate a lot of color into her pieces. It adds a lot to the images and she uses color very well in her photography. I would say that the main thing about her is her still life's she has explored many general, but overall she is a colorful still life photographer. If I were to compare her photography style to anything, I would say it is most like modern simplistic photography.
Olivia Parker Philosophy
She wants to have a fresh perspective to photography. As she says in an interview on https://www.whatwillyouremember.com/order-of-imagination-photographs-of-olivia-parker-at-peabody-essex-museum-salem-ma/ it states , “Parker was seduced into color photography by Cambridge-based Polaroid Corporation’s Artist Support Program, which encouraged emerging artists to experiment with their instant color technologies. Plunging into this new world, Parker became infatuated with Polacolor’s rich and dazzling hues and the instant feedback that spurred a flurry of investigative trials. While color brought Parker closer to the still-life traditions of Dutch and Spanish painting, she still eschewed convention with captivating contrasts in depth of field, her inimitable groupings of allusive objects and textures, and the introduction of other media into her frames.” Through her photography she wanted to draw attention to her photography, and wanted people to interpret it how they did.
Olivia Parker Influence.
I think now that I have taken a deep dive into Olivia Parker, I will use more color photography. She uses a lot of color photography and I think it looks so amazing and she has influenced me to do the same. She also has a simplistic style which I feel like you can take a lot away from. I think that making photos more simple is one of the best ways to show photography. Overall I feel like I can take a lot away from how she does her still life.

Compare and Contrast
First image: Bowl
I feel like this might have been my most difficult image to recreate, but also one of the most fun. I liked taking the picture and I liked making the background black because I was able to use my knowlage from the double exposure activity to make the backroud black. I think that it turned out well and I like the outcome of it.
Second Image : Be
This one I find interesting because she said that it was a parcial tribute to her late husband. Though she does not describe why this photo specifically makes her think of him, I find it enteresting to imagine what it symbolized. I feel like this one was very fun to recreate and I liked doing this one a lot and it was quite easy.
Third Image : Clips
I think that this image is super fun. I think that it took something ordinary like a paperclip and made it interesting. I think that taking this was easy, I did not have as many paper clips as I needed but I think that it still turned out well.

Personal Artist Statement
I think that I learned a lot through researching Olivia Parker. I learned to experiment with different things in photography and that you do not have to have a set genera. I really loved taking pictures with the style of her in mind. I think that her photography tought me a lot. I think that she had a lot of simplicity but interesting parts to her photography as well. Overall I think that a lot of her images have underlying messages like “Be” represented her late husband.
